Heart Behind the Hands

Hi There!
I am Cassie Morss, CEMT, the heart and hands of Black Withers Equine Bodywork.
My journey into equine bodywork began with a simple desire: to spend time with horses without needing to ride them. I didn't get to grow up with them, however as an adult, I wanted to experience the connection with horses in a different way—to slow down, listen, and simply be present.
What I didn't expect was how much that connection would give back to me. Somewhere along the way time spent with horses has helped heal parts of my heart I didn't even know were missing. There is something incredibly grounding about earning a horse's trust, being present in their space, and communicating without words. That quiet connection has become an important part of who I am and why I do this work.
Why Black Withers?
The name Black Withers is deeply personal to me.
The withers are such an important part of the horse's body—a place connected to balance, movement, strength, and partnership. They hold and tell many stories.
And then there is black.
The horses that have touched my heart the most, shaped me the most, and stayed with me long after our time together have all been black. There is something about them that has always drawn me in. They have taught me about trust, patience, connection, loss, healing, and the incredible bond that can exist between a horse and a human.
In many ways, Black Withers is a tribute to those horses—the ones who left hoofprints on my heart and helped shape the person I am and continusouly strive to be.
The name represents more than the color of a horse or a place on their body. It represents the connection, strength, trust, and healing that horses have brought into my life.
My approach to equine bodywork is holistic and centered around relaxation, wellness, performance, and mobility. I believe every horse is an individual, and I take the time to observe what each horse is communicating through posture, movement, expression, and response to touch.
My goal is to create a calm, supportive experience where horses can release tension, move more comfortably, and simply enjoy some dedicated time to relax and reconnect with their bodies.
Whether your horse is an athlete preparing for an event, an older horse needing supportive wellness care, or simply a horse who deserves some time to unwind, my focus is on meeting them where they are and honoring their individual needs.
I am grateful for every horse that allows me into their space. This work is about so much more than bodywork—it is about trust, connection, healing, and the quiet language shared between horse and human.
For me, helping horses feel better while being allowed to share in their world is a privilege.
Black Withers is my way of honoring that connection.
