Where Every Journey Begins
A holistic approach to equine bodywork, built on communication and understanding.

Before we can understand what your horse needs, we first need to understand your horse.
Every horse carries tension differently. Their history, conformation, workload, training, age, lifestyle, past injuries, and daily routines can all influence how they move, perform, and feel. The Foundation Session gives us the time and space to look at the whole horse—not just the area that may appear to be the problem.
This is more than simply a massage. It is an opportunity to slow down, listen, observe, and learn what your horse's body is communicating. During the session, I take the time to connect with your horse from nose to tail, assessing posture, movement, muscle tension, tissue quality, and areas that may need additional attention.
This comprehensive approach allows me to establish a baseline for your horse, identify areas of tension or restriction, and develop a bodywork approach specific to their individual needs. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all routine, each session is guided by what your horse is showing and communicating in that moment.
I use a blend of techniques based on what your horse needs and how they respond to the work. Depending on the individual horse and session, this may include Photonic Multi Light, tuning forks, trigger point therapy, passive and active stretching, or a combination of techniques to create the most beneficial and individualized session possible.
The Foundation Session is recommended as the first session for every new client because lasting bodywork begins with understanding. Establishing this foundation gives us a starting point from which we can monitor changes, recognize patterns, and thoughtfully adjust future sessions as your horse's needs evolve.
At Black Withers Equine Bodywork, I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I believe your horse has a story to tell—and the Foundation Session is where we begin listening.
Foundation first. Individualized always. Your horse's story guides the way.
One Philosophy.
Two Places in the Journey.
Listen. Assess. Respond. Reassess. Listen
Bodywork isn't meant to be a one-and-done service. Horses are athletes, companions, workers, and partners—and their bodies are constantly adapting to the demands placed on them.
Regular, continued bodywork allows us to become familiar with your horse's normal patterns and recognize changes as they develop. As your horse's workload, training, age, environment, or lifestyle changes, their body's needs can change too.
Once the foundation has been established, we continue building upon it.
Continued Care sessions follow the same individualized approach as the Foundation Session. We still begin by checking in, observing your horse, assessing how they are presenting that day, and allowing their responses to guide the work.
The difference is that we now have a history to build from.
We know your horse's patterns. We know how they have responded to previous sessions. We can recognize changes, adjust techniques, and adapt the session as their needs, workload, training, and lifestyle change.
The session doesn't become a routine—the relationship becomes deeper.
The Foundation establishes the starting point. Continued Care allows us to keep learning, adjusting, and supporting your horse throughout their journey.
One Philosophy. Two Places in the Journey.
Whether your horse is experiencing their very first Foundation Session or returning for Continued Care, the approach remains the same:
Listen. Assess. Respond. Reassess. Listen
Because your horse's needs can change from one session to the next, every appointment is treated as an individual session—not a predetermined routine.
Where every journey begins.
Where their story continues.
Start Here. Keep Listening.
